Helen has forwarded the matter to another asst dean.. and she forwarded the matter to science..

Dr Adrian Micheal Lee replied.

I was asked by a student whether the exam was open or closed book prior to the test. But my recollection is that no one asked me during the test. I made an explicit announcement of this fact at the beginning of the test and made a request for all extraneous material to be removed prior to the test. This was done. I did not see anyone using notes during the test during my multiple circuits of the room.

As I said before, it is very unfortunate that you are bringing the issue of cheating to my attention now rather than during the test when I could have done something about it. At present you are the only student in the class that has complained about cheating during the test.

Regards,

Dr. Adrian Lee.

I am not worried that my score is low because of me did not use the time allocated well.. i am just worry that others excel because they cheated. and for the rest who did not cheat, may just get a pass or low score.

Anyway, i did ask you a few times during the test that if the test was closed book or opened book when i saw people taking out their notes..

It is most unfortunate that you did not bring this problem to my attention during the test when I would have been able to do something. Lecture theatres are designed to minimise audience noise and it can be difficult to hear noise coming from the audience. Given your worry that your test score may be low because you felt that you did not use the time allocated effectively, would you want to be retested?

Dr. Adrian Lee.

Yes, Dr Adrian Lee, i am sure you have tried your best. However, i feel that the cheating was not minimal since the whole rows in front of me and besides me were busy talk and flipping notes during the test. For me, at least it was surrounding. And i remember the guy sitting beside me is called Gao Xiao something. I am not sure the names of the guys beside him, but they were discussing so loudly during the test that i had to "shhh" them a few times. and when i got so irritated by their inconsiderate and disrespectful behavior, i submitted the test script 30 mins earlier than the supposed end time. and i am sure there were people felt the same way as me.

Sorry Dr Adrian Lee, i didn't want to pinpoint to anyone. i understand that it was hard to manage so many students in one small LT. However, i see that there is a need to address to the students the importance of integrity and hardwork. I have studied hard, and i sure there are people studied very hard for this module. Though i am a business student, i have always been very interested in Science. I made it a point to take a science module every semester. it was a pure interest, not because it's easy to score or easy to understand. However, in such situation, i found that it hard to sustain my passion for science.

Thus, i sincerely hope that u can do something about it..

I appreciate that the venue is not conducive to testing given the size of the class. Equally I did not have TA support that made invigilation more difficult. However, I think that cheating was minimal given the circumstances. Certainly in marking the scripts there isn't any particular evidence. As far as the online testing is concerned, cheating is something that will be addressed but only after the second online test later in the semester.

Dr. Adrian Lee.

Now, it seems like i accused him about the cheating.

i think he hates me. i think he going to penalise me for being such a busybody. did i say that i dream about scoring a C- for this module last night?
